my morning and evening SKINCARE routine!

Helllloooooooooo,

Today I wanted to take a second to talk about what skincare I have been into lately, as well as my staple skincare routine for the morning and the evening. So without further ado, here we go.

MORNING

  • In the morning, I start by washing my face with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. This cleanser is a drug store classic, and in my opinion, one of the best cleansers to really clean your face and take away all the dirt and grime on your skin. This cleanser is great for normal to oily skin.
  • Next, I use my Thayers Witch Hazel Toner. I love this toner and the benefits of Witch Hazel for my skin.
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: I use the unscented one, NOT the original or the rose petal. I have found from doing a bit of research that fragrances are not the best for your skin, so I try to avoid them where I can, which is why I always buy the unscented version.
  • After that, I go in with my Vitamin C Serum. I use the C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum by Sunday Riley. This product has a whopping 15% Vitamin C, which aids in brightening the skin as well as protecting the skin from the sun (different from sunscreen, you must wear sunscreen every day, this is not a substitute for it). My only bone to pick with this product is the price. It is extremely expensive, so I will be in the market for a new Vitamin C Serum once this one runs out.
  • Then, I use my CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion.
  • I follow that up with my Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen. This sunscreen is incredible. Coming in with an SPF of 30, this sunscreen is lightweight, easy to rub in, leaves a minimal white cast, and uses minerals to protect your skin rather than chemicals. It doesn’t smell like sunscreen, which helps me get through the mental block of putting it on every morning.

NIGHTTIME

  • In the evening, if I am wearing makeup or feel like my skin is just gross, I will start with my Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil.
    • I cannot stress how important this next part is: IF YOU ARE WEARING MAKEUP, YOU MUST DOUBLE CLEANSE YOUR SKIN. Using a makeup wipe only smears the dirt and makeup into your pores further, and normal cleansers do not possess the right properties and ingredients to break all your makeup down and fully cleanse your skin. It is imperative to use an oil based cleanser (or milk cleanser, something of the sort) to break down your makeup, then go in with your water based or gel based cleanser (CeraVe, Cetaphil, Youth to the People Kale Cleanser, etc). This way your skin will be completely clean, pores free of gunk, which helps manage breakouts and aging.
  • Next, I go in with my same Thayers Witch Hazel Unscented and Alcohol Free toner.
  • Now here is where things get… spicy. Basically, I have Accutane to thank for my skin (I am a FRAUD, I know); however, maintaining this gift that was given to me by my good friend Accutane is still hard work OK. Anyways, my dermatologist gave me two products to help my skin maintain its post Accutane magic: Clindamycin Phosphate Benzoyl Peroxide Gel and Tretinoin. Tretinoin is a retinol. What I do for these bad boys is alternate every night between them. One night I will use my Gel, and the next I will use my Tretinoin. Sometimes, if I feel like the Tretinoin is drying my skin out too much or I just want to use something else that is still a retinol, I reach for my Luna Night Oil by Sunday Riley as a replacement. This stuff is no joke. I absolutely love it, despite the fact that I am pretty sure there is fragrance in it and it is dyed the color blue. Yeah yeah yeah I get it, BUT come on guys, let me have this one. This product is just so good to my skin, I cannot let it go. I just can’t, OK? This stuff smells so bomb, and leaves my skin smooth, even, and noticeably less red in the morning.
    • For application of these three guys, I put the Clindamycin under my moisturizer, the Tretinoin after my moisturizer, and I mix the Luna oil into my moisturizer.
  • Moving on, we come to my trusty ol moisturizer yet again, the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. If my skin is feeling extra dry or malnourished, I will mix some of my Biossance Squalane Oil into my moisturizer.
  • Sometimes, I will whip out my jade roller and do some rolling to encourage lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness, but that is only if I am feeling extra motivated to get my spa on.
  • Next, I go in with my Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream.
  • Once that is patted into my under eyes, I put my GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum on my eyelashes. Guys. This stuff… changed my life. I used to have NO eyelashes. Now people ask me if my eyelashes are FAKE. Yes, I am not lying this has actually happened. SOOOOO do yourself a favor and buy this bad boy, apply it every night on your lash line, and watch the magic happen before your eyes (pun intended).
  • I finish this routine up with a little bit of chapstick for my lips (Aquaphor typically, or whatever I find lying around).
